Inspirations

These are small mixed media pieces that i do to keep fresh and to find inspiration for other works.  I start with a doodle or a color or something I've cut out of a magazine or catalog.  To the horror of my friends, I cut up books, too.  I like to find compelling  sentences and give them new life and meaning with new companions in these tiny treasures.  My goal is to start without an idea but with a blank piece of heavy watercolor paper.  Next I just....  I don't know what i do next.  I put down some color, or doodle with pen and ink, or glue a doodle I found from a few days ago, or cut pictures out of the Macy's catalog and so on.  I try to get into that amazing space where something cool happens.  my only rule is 'don't think, just do.'  It's all very spontaneous.  Enjoy.

Approximately 9 x 6 inches, mixed media on paper, handsomely matted and framed, $70.
