These paintings are my version of sampling—like when a Hip Hop artist uses beats or lines from other songs. I use images from fashion magazines, small pieces of dialogue, poses that we use to look cool. I paste it on the canvas, then paint over it, distorting it until it has a new life and a new meaning in my painting. In many of my works I use spray paint and stencils to tell the story.
